September 19, 2001 - America and the Free World are preparing to go to war.  The continental US has suffered its first foreign attack since the British cooked the White House in 1812.  Our airspace was shut down for the first time in history.  Our stock exchanges were silent for nearly a week.  On Monday, a trillion dollars or so had disappeared from the portfolios of American investors.
  As hang glider pilots, the symbol of the American Eagle has special significance.  Our sport is the only one to join the fraternity of eagle pilots who ply the forces of nature to stay aloft.  We are the ones who ponder what goes through the mind of an eagle as he finds the currents which lift him skyward.
  Even more poignant is the thought that these terrorists would steal our own flying machines to use as instruments of destruction.  The repulsiveness and cowardice of these actions has increased our resolve to wipe their kind from the face of the planet.
  As an American, I want to say a special thank-you to the many nations around the world who have expressed your sorrow and outrage at our loss.  Your commitment to join the fight against fear has reminded us that we are not alone.  We'll sing "God Bless America" because we're Americans, and we hope you'll ask God to bless your country as well.

Today's Quote:
 "Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
They will run and not grow weary,
They will walk and not be faint."
